JRM Dorong Pemuda Gereja Toraja Jadi Petani Millenial
TODAY, MAKALE – Anggota DPRD Sulsel Fraksi Golkar Jhon Rende Mangontan (JRM) menantang pemuda Gereja Toraja untuk menjadi petani Millenial.
Dorongan itu disampaikan JRM dihadapan puluhan kader PPGT Klasis Makale saat menggelar Konsultasi Publik Ranperda Provinsi Sulsel Tentang Sistim Pertanian Organik, di Tongkonan Paku, Kelurahan Kamali Pentalluan, Minggu, 30 Mei 2021.
Kondisi geografis dan wilayah Toraja memiliki tanah yang subur ditambah iklim yang bagus. Namun, lahan pertanian yang ada belum sepenuhnya dikelola secara maksimal. Belum lagi persoalan masih banyaknya lahan tidur.
Merujuk hal tersebut, Anggota Komisi E itu mendorong mayoritas pemuda yang hadir untuk membangkitkan kembali lahan pertanian dengan memanfaatkan perkembangan tekhnologi. Menurutnya, ini sebuah tantangan bagi anak muda, bagaimana membangkitkan lagi lahan tidur.
Ia meyakinkan, bahwa Tana Toraja ini bisa menjadi penyuplai kebutuhan pokok untuk daerah tetangga.
“Saya tantang kalian menjadi petani Millenial. Lahan sekarang sudah terbatas yang harus kita bangkitkan lagi.
Bagaimana pemuda sebagai garda terdepan menggunakan perkembangan tekhnologi. Saya siap dampingi anak muda jika benar-benar ingin menghadapi tantangan ini,” kata mantan Ketua Komisi D DPRD Provinsi Sulsel itu.
Selain Kader PPGT turut hadir unsur pemerintah, yakni Dinas Pertanian Tana Toraja, Lurah Kamali Pentalluan, Tokoh Masyarakat dan para petani. Meski menghadirkan ratusan orang, namun tetap menerapkan protap kesehatan.
Dalam kegiatan tersebut para peserta yang hadir begitu antusias mengungkap berbagai kendala yang mereka hadapi. Mulai dari kebutuhan pupuk dan bibit hingga gagal panen.
JRM mengemukakan pertanian merupakan salah satu sektor utama dalam perkembangan perekonomian masyarakat Sulsel tak terkecuali di Toraja.
Dimana, sebagian besar masyarakat mengandalkan sektor pertanian sebagai mata pencaharian.
Di masa kini, kata JRM sistim pertanian masih menggunakan pestisida dan pupuk kimia dengan segala kandungan bahayanya. Untuk menghindari hal itu diperlukan budidaya sistim pertanian organik.
“Sistim pertanian organik dapat menghasilkan produk yang berkualitas tinggi tanpa merusak lingkungan. Sejak dahulu nenek moyang kita sudah mempraktikkannya. Nah ini yang coba kita ramu kembali melalui regulasi nantinya,” terang Ketua Bappera Sulsel itu.
Diakhir kegiatan Politisi asal Mengkendek itu menyerahkan bantuan sejumlah uang kepada PPGT Klasis Makale.
Bantuan yang diterima langsung oleh Ketua PPGT Klasis Makale, dimaksudkan sebagai salah satu upaya JRM untuk merangsang kreatifitas anak muda.
Sosialisasi Ranperda Sistim Pertanian Organik ini sendiri dilaksanakan JRM guna menjaring saran dan masukan dari para peserta yang diharapkan dapat menghasilkan regulasi yang berkualitas sehingga bermanfaat bagi masyarakat. Ranperda ini nantinya akan masuk sebagai Program Legislasi Daerah (Prolegda) di tahun 2021. (*)
